This is a recipe for the cabbage balls a simple yet delightful side dish(ingredients listed below)
3/4 cup wheat flour
150gm finely chopped cabbage
a small piece ginger (finely chopped)
2 pips garlic(finely chopped)
spring onions -a little or one onion(finely chopped
green chillies-3 finely chopped
1/2 tsp. salt.
oil for frying.
bind all these ingredients into lemon sized balls,adding a little water .fry in oil and set aside.
For the sauce
2-3 dry chillies
1-2 tsp ginger -garlic chopped finely
1 onion
finely chopped capsicum
1 tsp.chilli sauce
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1-2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tab cornflour mixed in 1 cup water.
1 tsp.sugar or honey
salt to taste
Heat 1 tblsp. of oil in a pan.Add the chopped ginger & garlic .Add onion and the capsicum and saute for a minute.Add the rest of the spices and sauces and finally add cornflour mixed with water.Add sugar or honey.When the gravy starts to thicken .Add the cabbage balls and remove from fire immediately.Garnish with spring onions/coriander leaves.
Good accompaniment for fried rice and noodles.
The fried cabbage balls tastes good without the gravy too,and could be served as a side dish or starter.
