CHILLI -GUAVA FRUIT SMOOTHIE


It’s been long since,I posted a breakfast drink .

After the rains,I went up the terrace to inspect

how my plants were doing.

My black rose plant,gratefully gifts me flowers ,

every day.Bewitched by the fragrance,it spread

unusually (maybe due to rainwater) cut out a

bunch.

Excited,and infused by its fragrance, I wanted

to take a photo at that very instant ,so that’s

how this breakfast drink became a recipe post😀.

INGREDIENTS

2 big guava

1 banana

1 apple

A pinch of chilli powder( Kashmiri chilli)

1/4 tsp salt

Honey/ Sugar/to taste

Water to your requirement

METHOD

Blend all in a juicer,and serve .

Serving chilled is your option!

TURMERIC LEAF BUTTERMILK


Very few of us know about the benefits of the

turmeric leaf .The word turmeric gives us the

thought of the powder or the dried turmeric,

and the leaf is never in the frame.

If you are fortunate to have a turmeric plant,

you will start nurturing it more after you are

enlightened with the health benefits.

As you know,I love looking into health related

articles or videos because it’s my passion to

cook healthy food, and know what I’m putting

up to serve .Thankfully, I have many turmeric

plants with glowing leaves.If you have recipes

with wrappings of banana leaf and you are not

able to get it ,you could use the turmeric leaf

instead .The paste of the turmeric leaf is also

considered the best to a glowing skin.

A brief point on the health benefits:

•It’s helps in digestion .

•Relieves bloating and reduces gas problems

•The Curcumin present in it increases the bile

production causing free digestion.

•Good for osteoarthritic,and rheumatoid

arthritic patients as it is believed to alleviate

pain.

•Properties of antioxidants,antibacterial,anti

inflammatory .

I made this with rice water ( 2nd +3rd water

after washing the rice ).

This water that we always opt to throw has

many nutrients. I learnt this from one of my

friends, who used to make rasam and gravies

with it .

Another tip I would like to include here is

that pure collected rain water is the best to

make rasam. ( idea from the same friend )

So let’s get into today’s health drink .

I am tempering this drink as I’m adding rice

water.

You can make this without tempering if you

are using drinking water.

INGREDIENTS (serves 4-5)

1/2 cup thick curd

2 cups rice water / water

1/2 of a turmeric leaf cut fine

1 small green chilli cut( optional)

Few red onions chopped fine ( optional)

Salt to taste.

For tempering

1 tsp coconut oil

A pinch of asafoetida

1/4 tsp cumin seeds / kalonji seeds

METHOD

Temper the rice water with the ingredients

listed for tempering.

Add the turmeric leaf and switch off the flame

once it is hot .

Whisk the curd with salt,add green chillies and

mix into the tempered water after it has cooled

down .

Check for salt and serve .

FRUIT LASSI (with variations)


Lassi is like a parfait, made with curd/ yoghurt

sweetened with honey/ sugar .

When there are fruits ripened ( not overripe)

these type of recipes are instantly in action!

Any type of fruits or single fruits can be used to

make your favourite lassi . Not only fruit you

can add any other flavours . My most favourite

is Lassi with cardamon .

Suggest for few flavours :Chocolate , Mocha,

Coffee,Mint,Orange( already posted),Pistachios,

Strawberry,Rose …,,,

Garnished with nuts , praline ….chia seeds an

instant awesome dessert or an addition to

breakfast .

So here’s the quick an easy recipe .

INGREDIENTS

1/2 papaya peeled and cut

1 big ripe mango peeled and cut

2-3 bananas

1/2 cup soaked chia seeds

2 cups curd or yoghurt

A pinch of salt

Sugar or any sweeteners of your choice

METHOD

Blend the fruits ,yoghurt,and the sweetners

together .

Add the soaked chia seeds mix well and serve !

COMBINATIONS OF JUICES


Summer is on the rampage ,and it feels as if

you could live on juices alone !

Morning hours it’s really comforting to have

fresh juices ,and it’s also important to have it

healthy .

So today I will be giving some combinations

and ingredients only .


1 . Orange and mint juice.

Juice the orange and mint separately .Strain the

orange juice only . Mint need not be strained.

Add honey or sugar and a pinch of salt .

Serve.Serving chilled or with ice is your option


2.Grapes, white pumpkin,Sweet lime juice!

Blend with needed water and honey or sugar.

Strain and serve !


3.Amla(gooseberry)+ cucumber +pineapple!

Blend,add needed water and honey .Serve

strained!


Note: People having acidic bodies ,should

always add vegetables like white pumpkin

(Sorakkai),bottlegourd ,cucumber

ridgegourd to juices or salads .

Vegetables with water content acts as a

good alkaliser .

Adding a vegetable or some greens in juices

is always healthy!

RIPE BITTERGOURD,AMLA JUICE


The word bittergourd juice itself makes your

face crinkled expressing a No, but this can

easily go down your throat,if you want to keep

yourself healthy. On the frank and fact note,not

as pleasant as other juices but less on bitter

taste,combined with any other fruits like

orange ,papaw …. Sweetened with sugar or

honey it can be consumed at least once a week .

Yesterday I had a taste of it , and I thought to

share with you all.

INGREDIENTS

1 ripe bittergourd ( seeds removed)

1 -2 Amla ( deseeded)

Sugar or honey to taste

A pinch of salt

METHOD

Blend all these together in your juicer or mixer.

Strain and serve .

5 HEALTHY COMBINATIONS OF JUICES


Making juices and smoothies,is an easy task to

all,but getting the right combination with fruits

and vegetables ,and getting good results to a

healthy , tasty drink need some awareness.

Earlier I did post one juice at a time . Now,I

will be posting the combinations and

ingredients only.

Method is the same for all.

1 . Giloy ,gooseberry,cucumber juice.

Giloy – known as the eternal plant,and hosting

many health benefits is a wonderful herb to be

included in juices ( please do find its benefits )

All juices will be for 3-4 servings.

The first juice will be with giloy ( 2 variations)

Ingredients

Handful of fresh giloy stems with a few leaves

4-5 Amla , gooseberry, Nellikai

A small piece of ginger

1 small cucumber

A pinch of turmeric

Honey to taste

2-3 cups water

A pinch of salt

Second variation

Ingredients

Handful of giloy / coriander/palak

4-5 gooseberry ( seeds removed)

1 smal ridgegourd (peeled and cut )

A pinch of turmeric

A small piece ginger

Honey to taste

Water.

Guava juice

Ingredients

3 guava fruits ( koyapalam)

Water

Honey to taste

Salt

A small piece pineapple ( optional)

Pomegranate, beetroot,grape juice

Ingredients

2 pomegranates

1 beetroot peeled and cubed

A handful of paneer grapes ( with seeds)

1/2 lime juice

A tiny piece of ginger

A pinch of turmeric

Honey or sugar to taste

Pinch of salt

MUSKMELON ,WATERMELON JUICE


This juice is good for a dessert with a scoop of

ice cream.

To the subject…..This is a good hydrating juice

to beat the heat.Mixture of two contrasts ,eye

catching before you stir it has a unique taste .

You can pour it in layers if you prefer to serve,

as a dessert!

INGREDIENTS

1 muskmelon ( Kirni,cantaloupe)

1/2 of a small watermelon

1 tsp lemon juice

A pinch of salt .

METHOD

Blend the melon and watermelon separately,

Strain the watermelon (to strain out seeds)

Mix both the liquids and serve .

GAUVA,LEMON JUICE


Both fruits contain loads of Vitamin C is a boost

to your immunity ! You could try with orange ,

opting out the lemon .

INGREDIENTS

4 gauva fruits

1 lime / orange

Sweetners of your choice

A pinch of salt

A pinch of turmeric

METHOD

Blend all these together with water ( to your

preference).

Strain and serve ! You could serve like a

smoothie too .

WATERMELON +GRAPE JUICE


Watermelon containing 90 percent water,good

antioxidant .Rich in VitaminC both grapes and

watermelon are a good combination to a

healthy hydrating drink.

INGREDIENTS

3-4 cups watermelon cubes

1 cup grapes

A small piece ginger

2-4 tulsi /basil/ mint leaves

A pinch of salt

A pinch of turmeric

Sweetners of your choice

METHOD

Blend all together,with water to your

preference .Strain and serve !

POMEGRANATE,GAUVA JUICE


Pomegranate of all fruits considered to be the

best fruit of all times . Each seed is a gem,

because of its nutrients .

Gauva mixed with strawberry is a wonderful

juice in taste and nutrition.

Red strawberry +yellow gauva .

This same color combination gave me the idea

to this juice.

So ,do try this combination too and post in your

INGREDIENTS

2 big pomegranates

2 gauva

Sweetness of your choice

A pinch of salt

1/4 tsp turmeric

METHOD

Blend all these together.Strain and serve .

APPLE,ORANGE,GINGER JUICE


Nature’s blessing to mankind is the best, and

the knowledge to avail of it’s benefits is another

It’s been a decade of not consuming any fizz

drinks ,and anything in a can in my family.

It’s only fresh fruit drinks ,so I mix and match

fruits, to present something new to my family,

motivated on health benefits alone.

Today’s breakfast juice and immunity booster

recipe is …Apple,Orange and Ginger!

INGREDIENTS

2 apples peeled and cored

3 oranges

1 inch piece ginger

a pinch of turmeric

Sweetness of your choice

A pinch of salt

METHOD

Blend all the ingredients together .

Mix in desired quantity of water.

Strain and serve!

KOKUM PEELS ‘N’ WATERMELON JUICE!


Watermelon and Kokum are best antioxidants,

and hydrating agents . Rich in VitaminC these

type of juices have to be prioritised daily.

Aids in fat loss and improves immunity.

I was able to get kokum peels from Amazon .

This gives out a lovely color when these peels

are dropped in hot or cold water .

In common , the dried kernel of the kokum , is

used for drinks and curries .

Kokum is widely used in Kerala and Sri Lankan

cuisines.

The peels are lighter in tangy taste compared to

kernels,and I love to include in drinks,chutneys

and sauces I make .

Now…for the recipe

INGREDIENTS

3-4 cups of watermelon pieces

4-5 kokum peels soaked in hot water ( 10

minutes)

A pinch of pepper powder

1/4 tsp turmeric

a pinch of salt

Sweetness of your choice

METHOD

First blend the watermelon fine .

Remove the peels of kokum from the

infusion,and add to the watermelon juice with

the rest the ingredients and desired water.

Strain and serve!

PINEAPPLE +PALAK JUICE


Today’s immunity strengthening drink is with

Spinach leaves and pineapple with my basic

additions.

Spinach the cartoon figure Popeye’s drink.

My daughter forces me to drink spinach saying

‘Mom it’s what Popeye drinks for strength , so

do drink it always ‘🤪😋

Please do not add white sugar . If you like only white sugar please use sulphur free sugar .

INGREDIENTS

A handful of Spinach leaves

2 cups pineapple cubes

A pinch of salt

Sweetness to your choice

A pinch of turmeric

A pinch of nutmeg powder

METHOD

Blend all ingredients together with water.

Strain or serve with pulp.

HEALTHY CILANTRO JUICE


Make your juices green,for the extra boost to

immunity building!

Some suggestions for the addition of greens

Cilantro or coriander,Spinach or Palak,Moringa

Mint ,are the greens which I usually include in

breakfast drinks.

When it comes to addition of green vegetables,

it is a long list . I will be posting combination of

vegetables too.

It’s always best to include a vegetable with the

fruit juice.

As gooseberry is considered to be the little

wonder it’s best to include it daily in any form.

So …to today’s drink with the gooseberry /Amla/Nellikai.

INGREDIENTS

A handful of coriander leaves

Amla 2-3

1 Pear / green apple

2-3 gooseberry ( Amla , Nellikai)

A tiny piece ginger

Honey to taste

A pinch of turmeric

A pinch of pepper

A pinch of salt

METHOD

Blend all ingredients together with water.

Strain and serve!

CARROT,PINEAPPLE,ORANGE JUICE


As we are in a stage ,where we have to think of

all possible ways to be healthy , and boosting

the immunity of our family I’m posting juices

along with my other recipes.

This is not a remedy ,these are just measures

you could take when you serve juices like this .

In my previous post,I have given pointers for

making juices ( please do check it).

Today’s juice recipe.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup chopped pineapple ( remove core)

1 big carrot

1 orange

A pinch of turmeric

A pinch of nutmeg powder

Salt

Country sugar/brown sugar/palm candy/ honey

METHOD

Blend all these together fine .Add water

Strain and serve.

I’m not giving the amount of water to be added ,because some drink like smoothies , some like. it with more water ,so it’s your choice!

PINEAPPLE,ORANGE,PEAR JUICE


A juice with high content of Vitamin C .A good

immunity booster. Mostly yellow fruits and

vegetables should be included in your diet .

•Always use country sugar or honey .

•Add a pinch of Himalayan salt to any juice you

make.

•If you are not adding ginger , make it a habit to

add a pinch of dry ginger powder.

•Add a pinch of turmeric compulsorily.

Add a pinch of nutmeg powder to any juice you

make .

2 pears

1 orange / sweet lime

A pinch of salt

A pinch of dry ginger powder

A pinch or turmeric

Honey / country sugar / palm candy to taste

METHOD

Blend all the fruits , in the juicer fine .

Add water to your choice

Strain and serve!
